On March 20, 2023, an incident involving trespassing, vandalism, and the killing of a protected bird occurred at Stratton and Ukrop parks at 5050 Ridgedale Parkway in Chesterfield County.  The suspects appeared to be five or six males between 15 and 19 years of age. They removed golf carts from Stratton Park and drove them onto the soccer fields at Ukrop Park. The suspects used a pellet gun and an airsoft gun to shoot at Cormorant birds. The teens fled on foot when police arrived. Upon recovery of the golf carts, a deceased Cormorant bird was found.
