POLICE ARREST SHOOTING SUSPECT

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA –

Police have arrested a man suspected of shooting another man on the campus of Virginia State University (VSU) at about 11:06 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. 

      

On Oct. 19, VSU and Chesterfield County police responded to the campus of VSU in the 1 block of Hayden Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male, who is a VSU student, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

 

On Oct. 26, police obtained warrants for Dante D. Turner, 20, for aggravated malicious wounding, robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the shooting. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Richmond sent a lead to members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia, Pa., who arrested Turner in Philadelphia without incident on Sunday, Oct. 29. Turner, of Waverly, Va., remains in custody in Philadelphia at this time.

      

Turner is the third suspect who has been arrested in relation to this incident. On Oct. 21, Khris J. Moonilal, 20, of Petersburg, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and malicious wounding – principal in the second degree in relation to the shooting. On Oct. 24, Quavon T. Flowers, 19, of the 2600 block of Forest Lake Road in Chesterfield, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and malicious wounding – principal in the second degree. The investigation indicates that both Moonilal and Flowers were with Turner at the time of the shooting. Detectives continue to investigate this incident.

POLICE RELEASE DESCRIPTION OF VSU SHOOTING SUSPECT 10/20/17

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the campus of Virginia State University (VSU) at about 11:06 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. 

 

VSU and Chesterfield County police responded to the campus of VSU in the 1 block of Hayden Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male, who is a VSU student, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

 

Surveillance cameras on campus captured images of the shooting suspect. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds to 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue jacket or hooded sweatshirt, blue pants and black shoes.
